CARE Community Advisory Board
Welcome to the CARE Community Advisory Board (CAB) at UNC Chapel Hill
At the CARE CAB, our mission is to educate and engage communities about HIV cure research. We believe that community involvement is essential in advancing science, building trust, and fostering hope for a future without HIV.
Who We Are
The CARE CAB is part of the Martin Delaney Collaboratory for HIV Cure Research. We are a diverse group of community advocates, researchers, and leaders united by a common goal: to ensure that the voices of people living with HIV and those impacted by the epidemic are heard and included in the research process.
Our Purpose
We aim to:
– Highlight ongoing efforts to find a cure for HIV.
– Promote community involvement in HIV cure research.
– Foster dialogue and collaboration between researchers, advocates, and people living with HIV.
What We Do
Through partnerships with local organizations and a commitment to community outreach, we offer:
– Educational Workshops and Events: Learn about the latest advancements in HIV cure research.
– Community Engagement Activities: Participate in interactive learning experiences designed to demystify HIV science.
– Advocacy and Awareness Campaigns: Join us in spreading awareness and fighting stigma.
Our Impact
Over the years, the CARE CAB has reached thousands of community members through events like the Durham Pride Parade, Raleigh Out!, and various Lunch & Learns. Our online presence has expanded our reach even further, providing vital information and fostering dialogue through social media platforms.
